Pe’ahi is by far the best big wave on the planet. When large north swells filter through the Hawaiian islands, bend across underwater canyons off the coast of Maui and wedge up on to the reef at Pe’ahi, it is truly a thing of beauty to behold. But to witness a human being harness the prodigious power of one of those waves is another thing all together.

Everything came together this year for another all time event. Billy Kemper took the win in convincing fashion for the second year in a row. And for the first time ever in a big wave event, the women got a chance to tackle the conditions with Paige Alms taking the win. But the waves themselves will always be the show stopper at events like this, and they delivered.
